So far, I've planked 3k oak logs and used up 500 of them, earning me level 69 Construction. Nearly at that magical 70!

I've also been putting some last finishing touches to RuneVoyage, and I'm now ready to start moving stuff over. As I said in my last blog, this process of manually moving the blog to the new website will take some time, but nevertheless, I'm fairly confident that everything will be up and running by Saturday. Unless something happens to change that, which it routinely does!

I reached level 77 strength, and also got level 80 hitpoints. Both of these together earnt me level 102 COMBAT!

After this, I decided a little construction was in hand, seeing as I haven't made much progress on it over the last couple of weeks. I planked up 1k oak logs, and have started using them up, although I only managed to get through 200.

Anyway, yesterday, I didn't blog, because I wasn't on RuneScape at all that day. I thought I should take a day out to concentrate on the website, which I am pleased to say is making excellent progress. I'm now more or less ready to start moving this existing blog over, although this will probably take a couple of days because I'll have to do in manually.

As promised, RuneVoyage is now a joint fan/help site and blog, which also includes the Featured Articles. Both the blog and articles have their own little section in the site, so it's really easy to find your way around and locate what you're looking for, at least I think so anyway.

At the moment, it looks like RuneVoyage will be up and running possibly by Friday, but by the end of the weekend at the absolute latest. When this happens, this blog will cease to exist- there will just be a placeholder post to re-direct you to RuneVoyage.

This is because I've been extrememly busy and have had very little time for either RuneScape or this blog. This is why I'm going to be making some changes in the near future...

Very soon I'm going to move this blog and encorporate it with RuneVoyage, so it's all one big website. I'm also going to be changing how often I add to this blog. Currently, I'm writing here every day, and as you know, very often I only write a few lines because a lot of the time, I'm only doing one thing in RuneScape- fletching for example. When I'm doing this for a few days at a time, it seems quite pointless writing at all. So, my new plan is to write about twice a week- sometimes more, and sometimes less- depending on what I've been doing.

I'm also aiming to increase the amount of Featured Articles I write, and will give these their own little section in the website. Talking of which, I'm also going to be spending more time developing and writing for RuneVoyage.

All of this will hopefully be happening quite soon, but due to my very unorganised life, this may be anywhere between the next couple of days and the next couple of weeks. I don't know.

I've tried to make up for lost time today. I've got 89 cooking easily, and am now about 200k off 90. So I haven't quite managed it.

All in all, a bit of a cock up on my part.
, so which I am eternally sorry for.

Depending on how it goes, I may be able to reach 90 tomorrow! I'm beginning to get really fed up of cooking as well, so it won't be a minute too soon either.

Happily, I've continued to be able to sell my cooked tuna instantly in the Grand Exchange, which if you remember when I started this cooking, I didn't think I'd be able to do. I've managed to save hundred of thousands because of this- I was originally thinking I'd be forced to sell to the general store. This has also meant I won't run out of money before I finish!

Just to first let you know that the Featured Article that I've promised you is ready to read now, so if you haven't yet, go and have a look!

Anyway, on to today. I've finished cooking the few thousand tuna left over from yesterday, and reached 86 cooking.

To my suprise, every single one of the 10 thousand tuna I started off with actually sold cooked in the GE! Truely amazing- I wasn't expecting that at all. That meant I got back just over 1mil, meaning I actually only lost about 300k!

After that, I found that I had to wait about 2 hours for my next 8k tuna to buy. So in that time, I decided to to a bit of fletching. I got through 3.5k maple logs so now I'm only 130k experience away from 92 fletching.

Plan of action tomorrow is to continue cooking tuna. My aim is to have 90 cooking by Thursday, although that may turn out to be a little too optimistic. After that, I'll return to fletching until I level up, and then back to Smithing and Construction until I reach level 75.

Forgive me, for there was a very good reason for this- because this is the subject of today's Featured Article!

I was wondering around the Grand Exchange, probably waiting for something to buy or sell, when I saw someone renting out a Saradomin Godsword (SGS) for 25k for one hour.

I wasn't really too busy, and to be honest, I was a little bored of planking, which was what I'd been doing that day. So, on the spur of the moment, I decided to take this guy up on his offer and borrowed his SGS, all 40 million gp of it.

This was, I admit, extremely exciting for me. This was the first time I'd ever used a godsword. I felt like a god, in control of the second-most valuable weapon in the game; a weapon worth more than even a certain partyhat.

So, in desperation, I tried to decide where to take this mighty sword. I wanted to take it somewhere where I could use it to its full potential- somehwere where I could unleach its huge power, hindered only by some poor guy's armour!

I quickly banked and readied myself for battle and teleported to the Duel Arena. By this point, I'd already wasted about 10 minutes of my 1 hour trying to decide where to go.

I knuckled down to some serious duels, at one point challenging a level 110+, which for a level 101 was quite admirable I thought, especially as I actually won that fight. The next 45 minutes were spent tackling enemies of varrying levels, with no other weapon except the godsword.

Now, I can't say I wasn't impressed with the godsword, because it was very, very good- I knew that anyway from watching higher leveled players flexing their muscles against other, lower-leveled players. I even managed to set a new max hit for myself- 24 (without potions).

But now I have a dilema, or at least I used to. Which is the better weapon- the whip or the godsword. I'm sure you're aware that there have been dozens of thread debates and articles written on various forums and websites trying to get to the bottom of both of them. The problem is, as informative as many of them are, there seems to be an equal spread of answers- and this doesn't really solve anything does it?!

So, I've decided to have a go. Now, in all honesty, in my opinion, you don't really have to have ever used either of these weapons to come to a conclusion on this, as the simple facts and figures are all you really need to know. But, I have used them, which I suppose puts me in a better position.

For both of our benefits, I'm going to list the "pros and cons" of these two weapons in a fairly ordered way.

Please notice that I'm only listing points that a relevant to this article. For example, because neither degrade, that isn't listed because we're not comparring to Barrows.

Also please note that I'm not using the age-old argument that goes something along the lines of "the godsword is fun to use and the whip is boring". Frankly, that is irrelevant and highly subjective, as are the esthetics (how they look) of the two weapons. And also, on that same note, the argument that the godsword is a display of wealth, whilst very true, is also irrevevant.

Godsword

Pros

1) High damage/strength bonus
2) Prayer bonus
3) USEFUL special attacks

Cons

1) Two-handed
2) Very slow
3) Extremely expensive

Abyssal whip

Pros

1) Very fast
2) One-handed
3) Relatively cheap

Cons

1) Useless special attack
2) Can't train strength

Just to continue from earlier, remember that there are certain arguments I could use, but haven't for a reason. Additionally, you may wonder why "low hits" and "no prayer bonus" are not in the Cons of the whip. This is because these are not really cons of the whip- they are just pros of the godsword. There's a big difference!

Now we'll go over those points in a bit more detail...

So, let's start with the stats. Here, the godsword really does pull out a big lead over the whip. The godsword has a strength bonus of +132, compared to +82 of the whip. This is the same story with the slash attack bonus. Additionally, the godsword has a +8 prayer bonus, whereas the whip has no such bonus. However, after that, it all starts to go downhill for the godsword.

The biggest advantage the whip has over the godsword is the fact that it's one-handed. This means that you can use a shield, a defender or various items required for some Slayer tasks. Sure, the godsword may hit hard, but a player wielding a whip and a shield is able to carry significantly more defence bonuses that his godsword-wielding couterpart.

However, the most frustrating thing about the whip is that you're unable to train strength with it (unless you use the controlled attack style). Thus, the whip is obviously more aimed at those who concentrate more on attack and defence than strength. The fact that a whip may be used in conjunction with a shield only seems to back this up.

And we haven't yet touched on the attack speeds of the two weapons. The godsword is well known to be about the slowest weapon in the game, whilst the whip is one of the fastest, on par with daggers. In the time is takes a godsword to hit once, the whip can hit twice, and the enhanced attack abilities the whip-user is likely to have means that both of his hits are more likely to hit than the godsword-wielder's single hit. And of course, the godsword will have an even harder job of hitting through the shield of the whip-user.

So to summarise, the whip's high attack speed means that it can hit twice in the time it takes the godsword to hit just once. The high attack level likey to be posessed by the whip-user also means that both of those hits are likey to actually take damage. However, not only does the godsword hit only once, but the lower attack level likey to be in possession of the wielder lessens his chance of hitting in the first place!

Once perk the godsword does have is its special attacks. Compared to the whip's frankly useless special attack, the godswords specials are very useful.

BUT, for a lot of people, the deciding factor is the price. To get a godsword, the cheapest one you can but is the Bandos at 20 million gp. And you can go all the way up to over 60mil for an Armadyl sword. This seems crazy when you can buy a whip for 1.5mil or less!

Whislt the godsword does have some advantages over the whip, it has just too many disadvantages. The whip has minimal disadvantages compared to the whip.

The godsword is restricted in what it can bhe used for. It's near useless when battling dragons and an anti-fire shiled must be used, and pointless in owning where good defence is an advantage. The whip has none of these problems, and that is why it's the better weapon. And to cap it all, it's up to 40 times cheaper!

 Comments
</default:description>

A few days ago, a failed to mention one of the things I'd done.

I've just started a mini-project that I should have finished by the end of the week. I'm on my way to 90 cooking. Earlier today, I had 83, and since then, I've gone up one to 84.

I'm using tuna, which, no matter what anyone tells you, IS the most cost-effective way of training, all the way to 99. It's not the quickest, I know, but compared to EVERY OTHER fish, it gives the best experience for its price.

Just thought I'd get that said before anyone starts questioning my methods!

I'll need to cook a touch over 26k tuna, and considering I've already cooked 3.5k today, it shouldn't take long. This little project is costing me 3.4 million gp, give or take a few thousand.

Now, my plan was to sell back the cooked tuna in the Grand Exchange, but past experience tells me that this rarely works. So unfortunately, I'll have to make do with the few coins I get from the general store. Shame really because if people would buy these things, I'd be able to get most of my money back

Anyway, on to future plans. I just bought 1.5k steel bars, which once I've finished cooking, I'll turn into cannonballs for a tidy profit and a little smithing experience.

I'll be using this money, any I get from the tuna, and also a few chaos druid trips worth to get me up to 75 Construction, hopefully in the not too far future.

I'm thinking, at my current rate, I may be able to grab level 90 cooking by the middle of next week, and 75 Construction by the end of the month. Then after all that, it'll be a race to 70 Prayer to see if I can get it my Christmas.

I will, of course be playing tomorrow, and posting as usual. I may also have the Featured Article done as well, although I may not have time...

...Those of you into F1 racing will know that the final race is on tomorrow, and intend to watch it live from 4-7pm (GMT of course) tomorrow. So as a result, I'll probably be playing a little less RuneScape that I first let on. Unfortunately, this means that the likelyhood the Featured Articles being ready is significantly smaller. Oh well, you'll just have to wait, won't you?!

Well actually, I was back yesterday, but didn't have any time for RuneScape. So, as promised, today normal service resumes.

I've done quite a lot today, in an attempt to make up for the past days lost. First on the to-do list was 69 ranged. I continued at the yaks, and was originally planning to continue to 70, but it was beginning to get very tedious, so I thought I'd give it a rest and come back tomorrow.

From the yaks, I started up Construction again. I got level 68 here in very good time, with 500 planks left- almost enough to get me to 69, but not quite, so I didn't bother.

Thirdly today, I paid a visit to the chaos druids again to train strength. I was rewarded well with level 76 and just under 400k of pure profit when I sold the herbs I'd collected. That'll go towards more planks tomorrow probably.

Continuing with my finances, I also got rid of the couple of thousand yak-hides I'd accumulated over the past couple of weeks training ranged. This only earnt me about 180k, but it was better than nothing. Yaks are supposed to be quick taining, something which I can agree with, but nobody ever claimed it was good profit. This is what I expected, so I wasn't too shocked about the lack of profit.

Fourthly, and most interestingly, I also did this year's Hallowe'en event. This was a pretty good event this year I though, considering that Hallowe'en, in my opinion, isn't really worthy of one. I haven't yet done the Swept Away quest, but hopefully I do that in the next few days.

Anyway, moving on. I've been fairly busy today, broing myself to death, ranging at the yaks. On the plus side, however, I did manage to make 68 ranged! That pleased me on two levels: 1, 68 ranged was a big achievement for me, seeing as I hate ranged, and 2, I managed to get there without falling asleep. It truely was the most boring thing I've done for a long time.

Other than that, there isn't really much more news for you to know. I haven't found much time lately for RuneVoyage. Indeed, I haven't really had that much time for RuneScape at all.

Now, to forewarn you. Tomorrow, I will be out a lot of the day, which will probably mean no RuneScape. And if I do have time, I probably won't be doing much, so please accept my apologies for either no blog tomorrow or a very short one!

Also, I am going away on Monday and not returning until Thursday. Obviously, I won't be playing at all on Monday to Wednesday, and maybe no Thursday either. Again, if I do have time to play on that day, it won't be much, and my blog entry, if there is one, will be approprately short.

For those of you who don't know, RuneScape is actually run on many different servers. Obviously, each "world" is a server somewhere in the World, but there are actually seperate servers, two of them, to be precise, that deal with all the logins to the game. These servers' sole perpose is purely to handle login, before you are forwarded to one of the many game servers.

However, when one server goes down, like today, there is only one server left to handle logins. When this happens, only half of the people who try to login will be able to. The selection is totally random, and if you don't get in, you'll just have to wait until the second server is back online.

Inevitablely, this is what happened to me, and I wasn't able to login for about an hour. Coupled with a general lack of time today, this meant I didn't really get much done. All I managed to do was to finish off my 67 ranged at the yaks from yesterday. Not a huge achievement, I admit.

So that's my excuse for my lack of progress.

I don't know what I'll be doing tomorrow. I should, however, be able to spend a long time on whatever it is I chose to do, because I'll have a lot of time on my hands tomorrow.

I think I'll probably visit the chaos druids again to train strength and continue with my Construction. On the other hand, I may not to either of them. Let's just wait to see what tomorrow brings!

At the moment I'm inline for 68 tomorrow if nothing unexpected happens that means I won't be able to!

Anyway, as you saw in the title, I've also been questing today. More exactly, Fremennik Isles. I got fed up of not being able to use the Neitiznot helmet so I went for it! Suprisingly, it wasn't as tedious as I was expecting, at least not as mind-bendingly boring as Monkey Madness!

As you'd expect, I've been trying out my lastest addition to my armoury at the yaks on the island. I've been training strength there for the past hour, and so far acumulated 35k experience.

The profit isn't as good here as the chaos druids (by a long way), but apparently, the experience is better. I personally don't see that, and if it is better, it's minimal.

I had to go out at very short notice and didn't have time to write this blog. Sorry! This blog entry is for YESTERDAY.

However, I did get a lot done, RuneScape-wise. I finished off planking 500 oak logs and used up 1k planks which got me to 65 Construction.

I also made 4k cannonballs, which I sold for 750k.

Not only this, I also went to Clan Wars, my first time there since the update a few weeks ago. I played in the free-for-all safe arena, meleeing with my whip for half and hour or so, just to wind down for the night.

I must say, I was very impressed with the new Clan Wars. However, my only critisism would be that I don't like, when you die, respawning OUTSIDE of the portal. Why can't we just respawn back in the game, in the safe area? Seems a much better idea to me.

So to recap, yesterday proved to be highly productive. On the downside, however, I won't be on RuneScape today, as I'm very busy for the time being. So, there'll be no blog for today, but I'll be back to usual tomorrow!

I spent a few hours at the chaos druids training my defence level. I believe I got just under 100k experience there, leaving about 50k left until level 80 defence, which I shall do tomorrow.

I've also been messing around on the PvP worlds a bit more. I died for my first time there, whilst maging, and if I do say so myself, owning. I was using fire wave, and killed about 6 people before I had to go and restock on food. Unfortunately, however, I didn't get much in the way of rewards because I was only carrying about 30k worth of items. Oh well- it's the taking part that counts, right?

Away from RuneScape, I've also been doing a lot of work on RuneVoyage. I've all but completed the PvP worlds guide, as well as adding various bits and bods and making a few tweaks and changes here and there.

Unfortunately however, I haven't been doing much else.

I logged on today (or tried to anyway) and was informed that the world i was trying to get into was a "members' only world". I thought, "well yes, I know that, so why won't you let me in- I am a member you know".

I turned out that there'd been a slight hitch with by payments (it's usually taken automatically every month), and I'd missed the message on the welcome screen that would have told me this several days ago, if I didn't click through that screen so quickly. Oh well.

I took me a couple of hours to sort the problem out (don't ask), so as a result, I didn't achieve as much as I would have liked today.

I got level 62 about 15 minutes ago now, with about 500 planks left. If you remember back, all that time ago to yesterday, you'll know that I was planning to get 64 today. I did try- until I run out of planks, with 12k experience (or 7 minutes) left. That was slightly annoying, to say the least, I must admit.

I'd had enough by then, so quickly switched over to "blog mode" to write this. I'm off to bed now- it's 10 minutes to midnight. See you in the morning!

1000 oak planks and 170 carved oak tables later, I leveled Construction twice- from 60 to 62. I was expecting it to take a bit longer than I originally thought, so it was a nice suprise when it took so little time.

I also went out and explored the PvP worlds for half and hour tonight. I figured that being such an important part of the game, I should know a little about it, and have at least some experience in it, even if I barely ever actually use it.

I've also been continuing the PvP worlds guide I've been writing, and hopefully, it'll be finished tomorrow, along with another 1000 oak planks. So if all goes to plan, I should have 64 Construction by the end of tomorrow.

I'd make more predictions for the weekend and into next week, but I know that any plans I make will have to be changed eventually, for one reason of another. I'll just see how I go, and how much time I have.

However, I was also disappointed today. I only achieved level 100 combat a couple of weeks ago, but with the combat level tweeks, I'm now back down to 95, without Summoning. I was at 95 before Summoning even came out! What a let-down

Planking!

As promised, I've just about completed the last 1k oak planks, so as planned, I'll be starting to use them up on Construction tomorrow, although at the moment, it's looking as if I'm not going to have a great deal of time. Oh well.

Onto RuneScape news, seeing as I've nothing else to talk about. October's Behind the Scenes article came out a couple of weeks ago, and before that, our most recenet proper update was on 30th August. That was 15 days ago! We must be due for our next update in the next few days, before the weekend, seeing as Jagex have just failed their "update every two weeks" initiative. And I can bet my bottom dollar (or I would if I lived in US) that it'll be PvP Worlds. At long last!

I for one am extremely excited, as I'm sure most of you are, about the PvP. Having said that, I was never a Pker, so if I'm honest, I doubt I'll spend much time on these new worlds at all. Maybe when I reach level 110- when there are less people wo can kill me!

I can't express enough how much I welcomed this update. The old graphics were just...well, old...and it was time for something better. RSHD provided just that.

However, also on this day, Jagex game the RuneScape website a facelift, and unlike HD, it was NOT needed. You see, there was never really anything wrong with the old site. It worked, and it worked well, it looked good and was easy to use. People were acustomed to the layout of the website- it felt homely and familiar. There simply was no need to change it- RuneScape HD was nothing to do with the website, just as a new quest doesn't affect the website.

The problem isn't that I don't like the new site, it just seems a little pointless to me. A total re-work of the whole website, and as websites go, the RuneScape site is a pretty big one, would have required a lot of staff and a lot of time. And I can't help thinking that those people and that time couldn't have been put towards a more worthy cause. For example, people have been crying out for years for some updates to the forums. They've become, in places, a little impractical- times have changed, and what we have now are parts of the forum going virtually unused, whereas other parts attract huge numbers of visitors.

It just doesn't make sence. I'm not opposed to change, but when something doesn't need changing, why change it? And it's not as if it was just a few tweaks, maybe a few changes around with small bits of the site, but no, it was the WHOLE damned site, and a totally new style. Instead of navigation down the side, it's now at the top, each link categorised, which in some cases, frankly makes little sence to me. What's that all about?!

Now, I'll give Brownie points to anyone who can explain to me the structure of the news section. So far, we've got Featured News, Recent News, More News, a link to the news achives, Article of the Week and Recently Added Articles. They couldn't have made it more complicated if they tried! So, what's next? Perhaps a section for "Today's News" or "This Week's News" or, better still, they could categorise each news item, and add them to their own little section! Of course, that'd be on top of the current sections

More importantly, I've also been making cannonballs today. I got through another 600 bars, which gave me 2.4k balls, which I sold for just over 400k. Very good money for couple of hours.

I've also been "planking". For those of you who are unsure of what "planking" means, don't worry, because I've only learnt that word in the last couple of weeks. It simply means "to turn logs into planks". That's all. It's just a quicker way of writing something.

I've managed to do almost 1k oak planks today. I'll be hopefully doing another 1k tomorrow, and then the following day (Wednesday), I'll be starting to train Construction. It'll probably take me a couple of days to use all of them up, but once I do, I'll make myself a bit more money, before returning to planks.

Now, I realise this hasn't been the most interesting entry in the World, which is why I've written the first "featured article", which if you remember, I try to release one every 1-2 weeks, depending on what I feel like doing.

Today's is about an update, not even really to do with the game RuneScape, that happened a few months ago. Please stop by and have a read, and leave a comment too!

But don't worry, I have my (genuine, honest!) excuse worked out. Yesterday evening, I went out, at short notice, and didn't get back until late at night. Understandably, I think you'll agree, I wasn't in much of a mood to be writing a blog at ten minutes past midnight, in what was technically, Sunday morning.

Okay, enough with the apologies. You won't be getting many more of them, so I hope you made the most of it.

Anyway, today has proved to be a very profitable day for me.

If you remember, or even bothered to read my last post on Friday, you'll know that I was at the chaos druids training strength and collecting herbs that day. What you didn't know (but could have guessed) is that I continued this for most of the following day, Saturday, except I was training attack instead of strength. And, infact, I carried on this today, and managed to get 79 attack. Big yay (almost at 80)

But most exciting of all was the fact that I'd not sold any of the herbs I'd collected for three days. Only today did I decide to sell them. And I was glad that I left it until today, as well, because the herbs, mithril bolts and a few nature runes, earned me a tidy sum of nearly 800k. Wow, I thought, that wasn't bad for a few day's casual work.

Not only that, but on top of the 800k, I also sold off the 1.5k cannonballs that I made a couple of days ago (I forget the exact day). This got me another 300k.

So, you can see that the day has been generous to me. True, I didn't really earn all of that in this one day, but leaving it all and selling the lot at once certainly makes you feel good!

Since then, I've been at the greater demons in Taverley dungeon training ranged. Unfortunately though, I must go now, leaving just 10k until level 66. Oh well, I finish that tomorrow, before I get down to making planks and/or cannonballs, depending on how much, if any, time I have.
