As suspected, I spent most of today crafting tiaras. Having said that, I didn't get through as many as I'd have liked due to other, more pressing, non-RuneScape matters. Oh well. At least I managed to finish off the 40k odd experience early this morning to reach 78 crafting.
So far, I've made 2k tiaras (or I will have my time I've finished writing this), which will earn me a healthy 105k experience. And I've still got a few hours left. I might be able to reach 3k!
Anyway, I'm estimating I'll be at 80 crafting by Friday, and with a bit of luck, maybe before. Then, I'll start a new project...
For a while now, I've been wanting to raise my Prayer level. Although 99 will be my ultimate goal, for the short-term at least, I think 70, possibly 80, sounds more realistic. The quickest way to do this, although not the cheapest, is with dragon bones and a gilded altar. And before I can get the altar for my house, I'll need 75 Construction, which means training up 15 levels, and finding a lot of money to fund it!
So, how do I get that money? Well, I haven't worked out how much I'll need yet, but I don't need to. I plan to raise the money my smelting cannonballs, and then once I have a few million, I'll go and train construction for a couple of days. And so on...
If all that sounded a little confusing, don't worry. It's not really- just my way of explaining it. So, for both of our sakes, I'll bullet point down my plan ![]()
1) Complete current tiara project, to bring my crafting level up to 80;
2) Alternate between smelting cannonballs and training construction;
3) When I reach 75 construction, build a gilded altar in my house;
4) Continue to raise money to pay for dragon bones;
5) Use dragon bones and altar to get 70 or 80 prayer.
Now, if you use my experience table on RuneVoyage (click here), you'll see that if I use dragon bones with a gilded altar with all three burners lit, I'll earn 252 experience points per bone.
Here's the maths (for level 80):
Dragon bones
((1986068 - 102811) / 252) x 1949 = 14.5mil gp
Big bones
((1986068 - 102811) / 52.5) x 369 = 13.2mil gp
As you can see, using big bones works out just over a million gp cheaper than dragon big bones. However, when I worked out that I'd be using 7.5k dragon bones, and it would take 5 times more if I were to use big bones instead, I decided that it's definately worth that extra million!
Of course, this plan is going to be fairly long-term. It's not going to be a one-week-job! The whole project, from raising money to training construction, to raising even more money to buy the bones, and then finally to actually using all those bones up is going to take me way past Christmas.
I don't intend to do this solidly either. It's not all I'll be doing on RuneScape for the next 4 months! No, definately not- I'd die of boredom before I got even half way through!
Basically, what I'm going to do is play fairly normally, like I usually do, except placing a a little more emphasis on the tasks required to complete this project. This'll mean the odd day where I play Pest Control or Castle Wars, or train slayer, or any other skill for that matter.
But don't worry, I'll be keeping you posted on how I'm progressing, and setting myself little target to reach during the whole thing. Anyway, I've talked enough now.
Whilst I've been writing this, I've been making tiaras. I've reached by target of 2k since I started this, as well. In fact, that bring today's running total to just over 2.3k! It looks as if I might reach 79 crafting this evening.
I'll be posting as usual tomorrow to let you know how it went. Bye!
